Comme tout le monde, l’irruption de COVID-19 m’a placé dans la situation inédite d’être confiné chez moi, à l’intérieur d’une ville vidée de la partie publique de sa vie sociale. Comme tout le monde, face au vide ainsi créé, j’ai dû trouver un moyen de l’assumer. D’abord, pendant les semaines d’enfermement, puis dans les semaines qui ont suivi. En cherchant une forme d’attention capable de nous aider à réfléchir à ce que signifie habiter une pandémie. Et en cherchant une façon pour pouvoir la partager avec des étudiants en architecture, afin qu’ils saisissent quelques-uns des changements et des glissements de sens observables en fréquentant autant que possible ce lieu sensible qu’est le rez-de-chaussée, le "niveau zéro", d’une ville.
Like everyone else, the COVID-19 outbreak has placed me in the unusual situation of being confined at home, inside a city deprived by authority of the public part of its social life. Like everyone else, confronted with the void that was opened up, I had to find a way to deal with it. During the weeks of lockdown, and then in the weeks that came after. Looking for a form of attention able to help us to think about what it means to live in a pandemic. Looking for a way to share it with a group of students in architecture, so that they could grasp some of the changes and the shifts in meaning that could be observed by frequenting as far as possible that sensitive place that is the ground floor, the "level zero", of a city.
